Trail Overview

The Gold Creek trail is a short segment of single track from Gold Creek Road, a rocky 4x4 trail, down to the Gold Creek Trailhead at the end of FS 1703. It’s a narrow side-hilling trail for the majority of the route. It traverses the hillside with several short climbs up and down. The side-hilling sections are mostly on smooth dirt, but there are wider, less exposed sections that are rockier - with short ledges up to a foot tall, or just large rock faces embedded in the trail. These obstacles occur when the trail is wider and climbing up the face of the hill instead of side-hilling, so it’s not overly difficult or high consequence. The trail goes right past a cliffside called the Devils Slide, but you don’t actually get a view of the Devils Slide from the trail, as it is downhill from the cliff edge. This trail is farther away from many of the other single tracks in the trail system, and you have to take a rocky 4x4 road to get here, but you likely won’t see many other riders.

Difficulty

This is an easy single track despite a bit of narrowness and rock. The terrain is not overly exposed or steep, and the rocky sections are approachable because the trail is wider there. Riders should still use caution in the narrow side-hill sections.
