Trail Overview
Gee Creek is a 7.6-mile out-and-back route that follows a single-lane gravel road through forested terrain. The road traverses a shelf above the surrounding foothills, offering occasional views through breaks in the trees. Moderate brush encroachment is present throughout the route and becomes increasingly significant toward the upper end of the trail. Several sharp water bars are scattered along the road and can catch drivers off guard if traveling too quickly. The route ends at an intersection with Hatchery Road, where heavy overgrowth prevents further vehicle travel. Gee Creek is open year-round to highway legal vehicles.
Difficulty
Gee Creek is a generally easier trail featuring a narrowing trail corridor and several abrupt water bars. While the road surface is generally straightforward, increasing brush encroachment near the end of the route may result in pinstriping for wider vehicles. Drivers should also be prepared for sudden water bars that can cause suspension compression or bumper contact if approached too quickly. The trail is not particularly technical, but the combination of shelf road exposure, overgrowth, and erosion features requires attention throughout the drive. Weather conditions can increase difficulty, particularly where water bars and gravel surfaces become slick. As with most trails in the area, bringing a chainsaw or equipment to clear fallen trees is recommended.
