Trail Overview
FS 5030 is a 10.8-mile out-and-back route through Colville National Forest. The road begins as a well-maintained, single-lane gravel road with only occasional potholes. Past Browns Lake, conditions change considerably as the road narrows and transitions to dirt and loose rock. Numerous slick, muddy potholes create a rougher surface through this section. The final few hundred yards become increasingly overgrown before the route ends at the boundary with private timberland. FS 5030 is open seasonally to all vehicles.
Difficulty
FS 5030 is rated easy. The first portion is easy and well maintained, while the section beyond Browns Lake is narrower and considerably rougher. Loose rock and numerous slick potholes require more careful driving. Expect pinstriping near the end, and wet conditions may make the muddy sections significantly more difficult.
