Trail Overview

This is a fairly easy trail that has smooth gravel, portions of large potholes, and a mix between very open areas and a few single-vehicle-width roads. This trail will take you up about 1,000 feet or so to a nice little camping spot for no more than 4 vehicles and a couple of tents. On the way, you'll start with smooth gravel but quickly reach large potholes as you approach the two short bridges. After you pass the bridges, you'll reach a very wide open area with a few hills to do some flex testing or technical driving. After the opening, the trail will get narrower, with trees on either side and often above you. In this area, there are a couple of off-camber turns, but nothing particularly difficult for just about any OEM 4x4. There are a few potholes and areas where water has deteriorated parts of the road--just move a little slow. Eventually, it will end with a wide-open view of mountains and a fun little place to camp out. The road continues after this, but snow may make it impassable. It does eventually just dead-end. It appears that the road is not extremely well-maintained, but it does get debris cleared every once in a while.

Difficulty

This trail is rated a level 2 due to sections that are only one vehicle wide, and the fact that it's not well-maintained after snowfall.

Mostly wet and muddy with large potholes near the beginning, some snow in places. A couple of trees over the road that you are able to drive under. The trail became fully blocked about 2.5 miles in with a few smaller trees laying across the road. Would be easy enough to cut and move by hand.

Large pot holes at the start and tight roads closer to the top. Overall pretty easy trail the worst case scenario is getting head on in a tight spot but there’s turnoffs every now and then to make things a little easier. Nice views. please pack out what you pack in.

Up to the lookout on passenger was gravel and easy travel. One SUV returning as I started and another vehicle at the lookout. Up to there an SUV and 4x4 will get you there. Past that the road has some serious holes, trenches and dirt obstacles with a close edge. Turn around at the lookout or the very next switch back has space. Should you continue you'll be committed to the challenges but there is another switch back with room to turnaround. See images.
