Trail Overview

This is a dirt-based forest road that gradually climbs Contact Mountain. The road to the peak has been permanently closed, and the road forks to the right and continues along the east side of the mountain. The trail is narrow, one lane wide, and mostly two-track with a couple of mud holes/puddles. The trail has minor ruts and wash, but any vehicle type should be fine on this trail. Camping is allowed along this trail, and near the end of the trail, you will have a view of the surrounding ridges. There are no amenities along the trail, so you should travel with all needed supplies. Cell phone service is weak, and the nearest services and supplies are in the City of Metaline Falls, approximately 20 miles away.
