Trail Overview
Trail 142 is 6.4 miles of twisty-turny singletrack through the Little Pend Oreille Trail System in the Colville National Forest. The majority of the trail is fast and flowy on smooth dirt, but there are frequent moderate rocky and rooty sections that make it more interesting. It’s not overly difficult, so it would be intimidating for less experienced riders, but it does have enough features and tight turns to keep it interesting and keep you on your toes throughout the ride. The entire route is full of tight turns, constantly zig-zagging back and forth, with some of the turns being tighter switchbacks, but it remains of moderate difficulty because it stays gradual the whole time. There are hardly any steep spots, and no major rock ledges. There are, however, frequent embedded rock surfaces and small roots to watch out for. One unique spot had a long embedded rock slab that you ride over. There are several small bridges as well, and the south end of the trail runs past a historic log cabin. This trail system appears to be very well maintained, and any downfall will likely be cut by mid-spring or early summer.
Difficulty
This is a moderate trail due to frequent rock and root sections and constant tight turns. Due to its length of over 6 miles, it’s also a more physically demanding trail as well. Expect loose rocks, short rock obstacles, roots, and the potential for logs; however, it appears any downfall gets cut quickly.
