Trail Overview

This trail follows a maintained gravel forest road for roughly three-quarters of the route before becoming rougher and rockier toward the western end. The rougher section includes puddles, a creek crossing, and a loose rocky climb before connecting with German River Road. High clearance, good tires, and 4WD are recommended for traveling the entire route. Cell service is spotty throughout, and several dispersed campsites are located along the trail. Use caution when snow or ice is present, as the inclines and declines can become hazardous.

Difficulty

This trail is mostly graded gravel, with the western section becoming rougher and rockier. Puddles, a creek crossing, and a loose rocky climb add the main difficulty, with high clearance, good tires, and 4WD recommended for the full route.

We took this trail from the intersection of German river rd. The first section is similar to German river and is very rocky. The biggest obstacle is a loose rocky climb that you'll need good tires, high clearance and AWD recommended. We had a Subaru Forester in the group that made the climb with minimal damage. The rest of the road has had the gravel redone after utility work and is nice and smooth. 3/10 for the rocky climb or descent if you are going the opposite way.

Do not get your hopes up, this trail is also no where near a "4" rating. This trail is a "2" at best. The eastern 3/4ths of this trail is graded gravel road. The western 1/4th, marked by an open gate, is dirt/rocky, but aside from a few puddles and a creek "crossing" it is otherwise a typical easy forest road. There is nothing to justify a "4" rating. A variety of stock vehicles including AWD and 2WD will have no problem with the entirety of this trail under normal conditions.
