Trail Overview

This trail offers climbs and descents, scenic views of the mountains and valleys, and several switchbacks. In the lower West Virginia area of the trail, there are multiple stream crossings that offer breathtaking scenery of the forest, rocky streams, and natural mossy growth. There is one good-sized dispersed campsite on the lower West Virginia side and one larger dispersed group campsite on the Virginia side at the top. The site on top is clear and big enough for many vehicles. The trail is mostly dirt and smaller rocks with no real obstacles other than the stream crossings that are less than 12 inches deep. Cell phone service is spotty along the trail.

Trail is open. Nice easy road. Plenty of stream crossings and a fee hairpin turns. Beautiful forest ride and some scenic views coming down off the mountain top.

Some leftover snow dams partially blocking but you can navigate around easily. Beautiful time and so quiet.

Started on West Virginia side and got about 2 miles in before had to turn around. There was deep snow across the trail. We did enjoy two creek crossings and nice views as we traveled along the river.

Fairly easy trail. Good conditions, lightly traveled and fairly flat. Tight squeeze if you need to pass in many places.

Entered from the side off of Sweedlin Valley rd. Very easy trail 2/10 sounds about right. One creek crossing was bone dry and the others had maybe 6 inches of water. Couple of puddles and muddy spots but nothing you would need to switch to 4x4 for. Came across one group in the other direction but luckily I was close enough to a pull off spot to let them through. Trail only took me about 1:20 to finish but the views during the fall are pretty nice.

steep and rocky with multiple creek crossings that were very low or empty since this part of WV has been in drought for a few months. came down off the mountain and ran into an old hyundai elantra. just a fyi this forest road can be done in a car(I've done it in my car last year after hurricane Helene) but saying that we followed these people for 30 min creeping along behind them so I would not suggest bringing your car unless it's modified for this terrain. cuvs/ lifted cars and wagons no problems unless it's been raining for days and the creeks swell.

Could have definitely gotten through with a chain saw to the tree.but some one did but it was only enough room for a side-by-side but not my full size.

Started from low side to climb toward Vepco 240. Lower segment nice and easy water crossings. Brush is starting to touch sides of vehicle but no pinstripes. Can complete 4H no air down needed

Tree fell overnight on the western side of the trail, forced us to take Vepco to get back to town. Tree was too large to winch away, but may be clearable with a chainsaw and winch.

The weather was great and the trail wasn’t too dusty. The water crossings and views are great on this easy trail.

Pretty easy trail especially with us going in blind. We brought a stock FWD Honda Odyssey and it tackled it like nothing so higher clearance vehicles can do this with ease. The undercarriage did rub a bit but nothing serious. Beautiful views and peaceful and quiet when you get out the car to look around.

Easy trail with minor ruts/rocks. Some spots of snow, but an easy, enjoyable drive.

This was a good trail. I’d rate it like a 2.5. Pretty easy but multiple water crossings (3-4) and potential for some mud pits. It was mostly dry though when we went. My factory Tacoma handled it easy. Just make sure you have good tires. This trail could become much more difficult with a hard long rain storms. Creating more mud pits and deeper water crossings.

we started from the western entrance and went up the mountain. hurricane helene had just dropped many inches of rain the day before so the creek was extra swollen. A few were at least 2.5' deep and flowing. I got dead towed through the first 4 deep crossings and had water to my side windows and over my windshield. The higher clearance vehicles in my group still had water to their headlights and fully covering 33s. Be extra careful after hard rain or storms the creeks could be impassable. We came up on a group of motorcyclists that had hydrolocked a bike.
