Trail Overview

The route starts on the East side, goes roughly 2.5 mi to a lookout point, and returns. Options to enter/exit the trail area to the west are available as well, but this route seems to be the best experience. There are multiple rock ledges and rocky sections to navigate. There are a couple optional rock obstacles as well that are more difficult, as well as one area that may have deeper water to cross depending on rainfall and the current status of beaver dams. The trail offers many turnaround points and places to pass other vehicles. I've seen stock Jeeps make it through the trail, but of course, a more modified vehicle will make it easier. Great trail to get the fall leaf peeping photos in, as well as a great trail to test your rig out on without a huge commitment. Rating it a 6, but there are opportunities to get into harder obstacles if you choose to.

Difficulty

Most obstacles offer multiple routes/lines. Ledges up to 4ft, a couple lines with multiple ledges needing a more capable rig... as well as easier lines for a more stock friendly option.

With recent rain it made a couple lines very slick on the rocks but the majority was very wet and muddy with the water crossings coming to the bottom of the doors but all in all a very fun afternoon ride

Started from the smithville road side. Had it in 4 low the whole time and was able to just power through the majority in my Polaris general on 30’’ tires. One ledge I slid sideways on but was probably due to lack of experience coming from NY tug hill region. Overall super fun trail would definitely do it again.

You can no longer get to the lookout. They have taped off multiple things and logging is going on. We drove from Woodbury Mountain road and it is not worth the drive up. If you live in the area it's a good trail.

Not sure if this was better before big storm in July 24, but this is not possible with stock Toyota Tacoma or LC. I would say you need at least 35's with a lift to make it over it without damage. Very difficult and steep ledge area.

My F250 made it through with relative ease. We had to winch over one rock wall. It was a great ride.
