Petty Creek to Hells Canyon - FS 10196

This trail splits off from Yellowstone Loop just before entering national forest land and starts switchbacking up the mountain, gaining almost 2500 feet in elevation before it levels out and heads over to connect to Hells Canyon to Fish Creek Trail. This trail is an easy, well-maintained trail with no major obstacles in the trail. This trail does, however, have multiple good viewpoints looking south from the trail, as well as some dispersed camping spots, with most of them being up on top once the trail flattens out. This trail is open to all vehicles once on national forest land, but all ATVs, SXS, and dirt bikes are prohibited on the section of road that runs on the Uintah & Ouray Indian Reservation. This trail also has no set seasonal closure date but will be impassable due to deep snow at higher elevations during the winter and spring months.
