Trail Overview
Tucked away within the region's interconnected backcountry network, BLM 64X is a remarkably brief but highly immersive 0.5-mile sandy two-track adventure. The journey immediately establishes an intimate, secluded atmosphere as the vibrant red-sand path becomes exceptionally tight and twisty, meandering playfully through a dense, fragrant forest of mature juniper trees. Because the corridor is quite narrow, travelers will find themselves brushing closely past rustic deadfall and the rigid green branches that line the undulating trail. Despite its short distance, this quiet, secluded route is an absolute hidden gem for overnight stays, offering numerous fantastic, flat dispersed campsites nestled perfectly into the surrounding juniper groves. Whether you are simply exploring the local sandy spider web of trails or seeking a deeply isolated spot to set up camp under the cloudy high-desert skies, this quick, twisty transit delivers a beautiful, quintessential off-road experience.
Difficulty
BLM 64X earns a Level 2 Easy technical rating entirely due to its persistently soft, deep red-sand tread. The route is fundamentally smooth and completely devoid of any severe, vehicle-damaging rock-crawling ledges, steep off-camber washouts, or deep mud bogs. However, the distinctly loose sand requires a driver to maintain steady momentum to avoid getting bogged down on the twisty turns. A standard AWD crossover, stock SUV, or high-clearance 2WD truck can comfortably and safely navigate this short track under dry conditions, especially if tires are slightly aired down to improve flotation.
