Trail 501 begins north of the main Fivemile Pass parking area of 73. This trail is 1.1 miles long and runs North-South. When traveling North, you'll gain ~200 ft of elevation--the medium-width track winds between scattered sagebrush and sparse pine trees. The ground surface is mainly packed with loose/sandy dirt with very few large embedded rocks and loose golf ball-sized stones mixed in. Beware of several dirt road crossings with other vehicle traffic.
