Trail Overview

Straight Shot is a flat, 0.37-mile connector trail in Utah's Fivemile Pass Recreation Area, ideal for beginners and navigating the local trail network. Located around 5,300 feet in elevation, this short dirt route has minimal elevation change and serves as a transition link through numerous off-shoots. Most stock high-clearance vehicles, SUVs, and OHVs can easily navigate the wide dirt surface. While generally dry and straightforward, the trail can develop water erosion ruts and mud or deep water holes after heavy rains. The surrounding desert offers expansive views and year-round access, with spring and fall providing the most comfortable temperatures.

Difficulty

This connecting route takes you to and through a spiderweb of other trails in the area. The number of off-shoots and alternative trails seemed endless. Nothing of difficulty to note aside from possible water / mud holes on trail during wet conditions. Water erosion ruts also present in some places.

Very simple "straight shot" up to the other trails further up in the area. some eroded sections and a few brake bumpy areas but other than that not too bad.

Access Description

The trail is located within the Fivemile Pass Recreation Area, managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). There are no fees or permits required to access this specific route, but all OHVs must have current registration, and out-of-state visitors must obtain a Utah OHV permit. The area is open year-round, though conditions can become muddy and slick during winter and after rainstorms.
