Trail 503 starts on a dirt road East of the Fivemile Pass parking area. It is one mile long and runs NW-SE, paralleling 502. 503 is an open, higher-speed trail that runs through sagebrush and a couple of areas of medium-density pine trees. The trail ends at a second dirt road, with only one road crossing in between. The ground surface is packed, loose, sandy dirt with very few rocks.
