Trail Overview

The Hard Way is one of the more technical trails within Concan Adventure Trails. The trail climbs through rocky Hill Country terrain with several steep sections that become progressively more challenging. If you begin at the top and travel downhill, the route is noticeably easier than attempting the climb from the bottom. One section of the trail features larger boulders that are geared more toward dedicated off-road vehicles than heavier overland builds. Fortunately, a bypass is available, allowing drivers to avoid the most difficult obstacle if their vehicle is not equipped for it.

Difficulty

This trail consists of steep climbs, loose gravel, exposed rock, and uneven limestone terrain. Several sections require careful throttle control and tire placement to maintain traction, especially when climbing uphill. The larger boulder obstacle near the middle of the trail is the most technical feature and can be difficult for longer wheelbase or heavier vehicles. A high-clearance 4x4 with low range is strongly recommended, along with aggressive off-road tires. Drivers attempting the main obstacle should have good ground clearance and experience navigating larger rocks. If needed, the bypass provides an easier alternative around the toughest section. Overall, The Hard Way is a difficult trail best suited for experienced drivers and well-equipped 4x4 vehicles.
