Trail Overview

This is an amazing drive in the Terlingua ranch area. This public road takes you deep in to the desert where there's a hidden gem. The remnants of an abandoned Resort and what looks like a 100-year-old dam. The journey will be a slow and steady one on this gravel, rocky desert mountain road. With a couple of steep areas and a few small ledges about 4" to 8" high. Great for a sunset trail ride.

Most 4x4 vehicles can do this trail. A beautiful stone dam and covered areas at the end. We saw some wild boar down at the water when we arrived.

Fun little trail that almost 4x4 should be able to handle. The damn at the end was really cool.

Gravel and washboard, some loose traction on steep angles but nothing too technical. excellent views and a picnic area near Lake Ament. The road connects to Gate 9 for a direct connection from Terlingua Ranch Lodge area to 118. My wife and I were the only ones in a 4x4, the only other. vehicles we saw on the trail were bikes.
