Trail Overview

The trail to Waucheesi Bald is a gravel trail. The trail has been recently re-graveled. It is a two-way road so make sure you watch for oncoming traffic. The road will take you along Bald River and at the top of Waucheesi Bald is spectacular views, where we had lunch and spent the afternoon. For those who like to camp there are primitive campsites along the river.

Super easy trail with great views at the “fire tower” bald. At the time, there were a lot of hunters out, but there are plenty of places to pass or let others pass.

Great easy trail. Some bumps and washboard. In the fall it is nice as you get some views of the mountains that would be covered by the foliage.

Normally this road is a very easy 1. I gave it a 2 for this trip just because there were a few areas that are getting a little washed out and some lower clearance vehicles might scrape a little. Still traversed the washed out areas with ease with a basically stock 4Runner

Easy trail that took a couple of hours casual driving. Saw one other person on it. At the end you can turn right and drive through to Murphy NC

I put “obstructed” because the trail is mostly open. The very end is closed on the Tellico OHV side for maintenance. If you follow the detour signs it takes you out onto the Skyway. Be prepared though, if you were done for the day, it’s not a super short detour.

Has a detour that takes a long way around back to town. Dusty, nice scenery.

Nice road through the woods with some off shoot roads for exploring. Many parts were graveled.

Bear hunting season and they aren’t the best at sharing the road. Just watch for blind corners and be ready. They fly down these roads.

The trail was easy to follow and dusty. Last time there was rain in the area was two days ago. Had to make room for oncoming traffic twice but was easy to do so.
