Trail Overview
Bull Creek Settlement Trail is a 2.5-mile-long intermediate OHV route through the North Cumberland OHV Area. The east end of the trail starts off Bull Creek Road, next to the Bull Creek Cemetery. The trail has significant ruts right away, with multiple feet-deep cracks running vertically through the trail, and deep washouts. These sections may be impassable for wider OHVs, as the deep ruts limit the width of the trail, making it very narrow to one side of the ruts. The trail continues with lots of small loose rock, some uneven layers of embedded rock, and trenched sections dug out below the forest floor with limited width. As the trail keeps climbing up through the forest, there are several wet sections with mud and big puddles spanning the width of the trail that are hard to avoid. Some sections have a lot more small, chunky rocks to ride over, but no rock ledges.
Difficulty
This is an intermediate route mostly due to the deep ruts and washout at the east entrance to the trail. The ruts are a deep crack on one side that makes it too narrow to pass with wider vehicles. The rest of the trail is easier, with small loose rocks and several mud puddles where a winch is advised. This is rated as Moderate by the North Cumberland WMA.
