Trail Overview

The trail opens with a moderate downhill grade over small rocks and embedded boulders — it's a little rough-looking and uneven right off the bat. A short distance in from the trailhead, you'll hit a decent-sized mud hole, and there's some overgrowth crowding the trail through this stretch. As you keep heading down, the road drops off into a fairly steep descent with a small hole right at the bottom. Clearance gets low through that spot, so take it slow to keep from bottoming out. Past the drop, the trail runs through a nice wooded section with ferns, brush, and some wildflowers lining both sides. Around 0.3 miles in, you're still descending, and the road surface gets very uneven — you'll want to back the pace off noticeably here. By roughly the half-mile mark (0.5 mi), the ruts start to set in, beginning on the left side and then alternating back and forth across the road. As you reach the bottom where those ruts begin, the trail throws a sharp right-hand turn at you. From there it keeps going, and the surface turns very rocky.
