Trail Overview
Trail 45 Log Jam - Leg 2 is an exciting and technical 1.5-mile off-road route in Oregon's Tillamook State Forest, perfect for intermediate drivers seeking a slow-paced challenge with plenty of natural obstacles. Navigating this trail requires concentration and steady tire placement as drivers climb nearly 600 feet of elevation from a starting point of 2,215 feet up to a peak of 2,761 feet. The trail is heavily wooded and characterized by a mix of slick dirt, exposed tree roots, loose rocks, and shale, creating a dynamic surface that changes constantly with the Pacific Northwest weather. Offroaders in high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles, SxSs, or dirt bikes will find the route's tight clearances and technical terrain highly engaging.
The route carries a technical rating of 6, reflecting its intermediate difficulty and the unforgiving nature of its surroundings, where a single misstep can lead to sliding off the trail down a steep side incline. Caution is paramount, particularly during the wet winter and spring seasons when the mud and wet roots become exceptionally slick. The trail begins off the first leg of Log Jam and winds through the dense forest canopy before ending at a gravel forest road, allowing drivers to either head back down or connect to neighboring OHV routes within the Browns Camp area. An Oregon ATV Permit is required to operate on this trail, and spark arrestors along with standard safety gear are mandatory for all vehicles.
