Trail Overview

The Start O Willamette Trail is a short access trail that starts at the Timpanogas Lake Shelter with a view of Lake Timpanogas. It gradually climbs up to the Windy Pass Trail, gaining about 650 feet in elevation over the one-mile route. The trail goes through a wide forested corridor of moss-covered hemlocks and western white pine, gradually snaking through the trees. There are a couple of mild switchbacks that are smooth and easy. The path is well-used, and there may be hikers from the shelter. It was clear of any downfall in summertime, but log hazards will be common in early season. The trail is easy and approachable for riders of all skill levels in a low-consequence terrain with no exposure.
