Quarry Head Trail

Quarry Head Trail is a scenic, 2.7-mile off-road route in Mt. Hood National Forest, suitable for stock 4x4 vehicles. Starting near the La Dee Flats OHV area, the route climbs from 2,147 feet to 2,994 feet along Abbott Road. This unpaved dirt and gravel trail ascends steadily through timberland, offering views of Boyer Creek and the North Fork Clackamas River canyon before ending at a flat quarry area. The trail is rated 3 out of 10, but winter weather brings deep snow, ruts, and potholes that require high-clearance 4x4s with quality tires. The expansive quarry at the trail's end provides a flat clearing for parking and lunch, alongside optional hill climbs and mild obstacles.
