Trail Overview
This well-maintained trail is a long but exceptionally scenic route and is considered one of the highlights within the Fremont-Winema National Forest trail network. The beginning and end sections of the trail are wide, smooth, and well-maintained, providing enough space for most vehicles, including those towing trailers with ATVs or SxSs. As the route climbs higher into the mountain terrain, it gradually narrows and winds through areas of young pine saplings, creating a more enclosed forest experience. Larger vehicles, particularly SUVs, may experience some pinstriping from the surrounding vegetation, while ATVs and SxSs should have no issues navigating these sections. The trail is absolutely beautiful, with a mix of gray gravel and red gravel surfaces throughout. There are numerous opportunities for dispersed camping along the route, with many established-looking areas marked by piles of pine cones and cleared spaces. Overall, this is a stunning trail with excellent scenery, great camping options, and an enjoyable drive for a variety of vehicles.
