Trail Overview

This trail begins as a well-maintained forest road before gradually narrowing and becoming less maintained as it travels deeper into the forest. The soft surface is covered with pine needles and pine cones, giving the trail a quiet, secluded feel. Within the first mile, the road begins to deteriorate, suggesting it passes through an area that was logged many years ago. Along the route are three old cemeteries that provide an interesting historical feature. As the trail descends toward the end, conditions become noticeably rougher with increasing erosion. Several downed trees have been cleared, although some cut trunks and branches still protrude into the roadway and require caution. The trail finishes at a beautiful open marsh where travel should stop, despite visible vehicle tracks continuing across the marsh. There are numerous opportunities for dispersed camping and parking, and the trail appears to be popular with hunters and other outdoor recreationists. This route is subject to Seasonal Designation. Please check local regulations and current conditions before traveling.
