Trail Overview
Down Low is an easy SxS trail for vehicles 65 inches or less in the Mount Emily Recreation Area. From the south entrance, it descends down from Forest Road 208 into a forest of ponderosa, lodgepole pines, and tall grasses, on an easy dirt track. The track is a bit overgrown with grass, but is mostly smooth and easy, with no big obstacles, and hardly any rocks. It will feel a bit narrow at times between the tree branches, though. The first half goes through a flat forest landscape, with minimal elevation change and very gradual curves, passing a couple of well-signed intersections. The north half has a short descent and then a semi-steep climb back up to Old Mill Road 207; however, the climb is still easy and smooth, keeping the trail easy and approachable for all skill levels. This trail system allows two-way traffic, so watch out for oncoming traffic around the corners, but in general, it has pretty good visibility through the trees.
Difficulty
This is overall a very easy trail as it has almost no technical elements. The trail is smooth dirt, with hardly any rocks, and is mostly gradual. It is family-friendly and ideal for newer riders.
