Trail Overview
This is a dirt with rock trail to the summit of Blue Mountain at 7,320 feet in elevation. It begins from the highway as mostly dirt and quickly begins to ascend. The road becomes rougher with sections of rock garden and loose rock. The road also becomes a one-lane shelf road with a large drop-off and no places to pull over or pass. If you meet another vehicle, one of you will have to back up a good distance to one of the few wider areas. The road is slightly off camber in several areas, but should be manageable by any vehicle type, although high clearance 4x4 is recommended, as well as terrain tires, and airing down will make this much more pleasant. At the top, there is what appears to be a radio/weather station; this area is a Wilderness Study Area.
