Trail Overview
This beautiful, well-maintained trail is a large route that appears to support logging operations. The trail travels through forested terrain with a mix of descents and climbs, along with some rockfall and wet sections. Gravel has been placed in a few areas where the road can become slippery, although these sections may actually make the surface feel less stable, so use extra caution around corners and take your time. A large dispersed camping area is located near the beginning of the trail, with several additional campsites and pull-offs along the route. A few side trails branch off the main route, including one toward the end on the left, although they do not appear to provide useful through routes. Approximately seven miles into the trail, a locked gate marks the end of public travel. The road continues onto private property, and signs indicate that going beyond this point is trespassing. Do not attempt to bypass the gate or continue past the posted endpoint. Due to the road conditions, this route is best suited to ATVs and Side-by-Sides rather than larger vehicles. This area is open year-round on gravel roads. OHV use is prohibited where vegetation is present on the road during fire season, typically from October. ATVs, UTVs, Side-by-Sides, and Dirt Bikes must always have a valid Oregon ATV Operating Permit sticker.
Difficulty
The combination of wet areas, rockfall, and loose gravel creates the main challenges along this trail.
