Trail Overview
This short but exciting trail features a series of steep descents and climbs, with muddy and slippery conditions that can become more challenging when wet. Near the bottom of one descent, a muddy rut typically forms before the trail climbs steeply again. Use extra caution on these sections, particularly during or after rain. A dispersed camping area is located at the entrance to the trail, and another large area is available at the end of the route. The road surface is generally maintained and heavily traveled, with little vegetation growing directly in the tire tracks. However, sections along the edges of the road have experienced erosion, bringing some drop-offs closer to the travel surface. Take care around these areas, especially where the road narrows near the edge. This area is open year-round on gravel roads. However, travel on dirt roads is restricted during wet conditions, which typically occur from October 1 through June 1. OHV use is prohibited where vegetation is present on the road during fire season, typically June through October. ATVs, UTVs, Side-by-Sides, and Dirt Bikes must always have a valid Oregon ATV Operating Permit sticker.
Difficulty
Overall, this is a beautiful route with plenty of elevation changes, but the combination of steep terrain, mud, slippery surfaces, and eroded edges requires careful driving.
