Trail Overview
This short but beautiful trail can be deceptive, with a steep descent followed by an equally challenging climb on the return trip. Although the road is gravel, dense greenery can make the route hard to see in places. Mud also cuts through the gravel, creating wet, slippery conditions. Use extra caution on the ridge sections, where steep terrain, mud, and limited visibility can make the route more challenging. Low range is recommended for the climb back up, particularly when the trail is wet and slippery. Despite its short length, this is a gorgeous route with more challenging terrain than it may initially appear. Take your time, especially on the descent and return climb, and be prepared for changing trail conditions. This area is open year-round on gravel roads. OHV use is prohibited where vegetation is present on the road during fire season, typically from October. ATVs, UTVs, Side-by-Sides, and Dirt Bikes must always have a valid Oregon ATV Operating Permit sticker.
Difficulty
Mud, steep ridge sections, and changing visibility add difficulty to this otherwise manageable route.
