Trail Overview

This trail is right off of the main HWY 259, and has plenty of amazing views and off shoot trails to explore. This trail is also seasonal so please check the maps and signs. It appears to have a decent camping spot at the end near the water, but it would only be accessible for smaller well built 4x4 vehicles.

Difficulty

The trail is washed out and very rocky. Most 4x4 vehicles could do this with no problem.

Not as technical as listed. I saw two other people. It didn’t require 4WD. Plenty of places to stop and take a hike, camp, and explore. Several offshoot roads and very remote. No cell service so get a map downloaded before you go. Took slightly under an hour.

Easy trail. Some tight spot but overall it was pretty clear

This is a level one "trail". Mostly graded FS road. Not sure why it has a 4 rating. Once you get to the end of the shown trail at the dispersed campsite, you can take an optional addon route that gets you all the way to the lake, which is tight, but easily doable in 2wd. Maybe level 2-3 if you are trying to get all the way to the lake

For the most part trail is dry. A handful of puddles, muddy spots. Entire trail in good condition. A bit narrow near the top, room for one vehicle. I hit the trail early, and I was the only one out on way up and back down. Since it was early when I got to the top there was still alot of moisture/fog in the air, so I wasn’t able to take in any views. I may do it again another time.

Great trail with nice canopy. Made it all the way to the end of the published trail and then was able to make both the left and right forks. 24’ gmc canyon at4(midsize) with 12” of ground clearance. Pretty tight through the unpublished areas at the end but doable. Couple places I used 4Lo to crawl up a few obstacles.

It was a mix between graded and ungraded road with some decent inclines and subsequent downhill. 90% of the trail I did in two-wheel drive with no issue. Only switch to four-wheel drive so I didn't have to get on it to climb a few inclines. They can easily be done in an all-wheel drive or two wheel drive vehicle with some momentum. Trail technically ends at the private property fence. however there is a path that will continue to take you down to the water that others trail reports have spoke about. I turned around at the private property fence as I ran into a bunch of side by sides. They mentioned more we're coming my way and since the rest of the trail to the water is pretty tight there wouldn't be enough room for me and a bunch of side by sides to pass each other. The whole trail is out and back there is no loop. There is spotty cell signal so I advise you download the map to the offline version if you can't. It's a pretty drive That's relaxing and has some okay pull-offs for camping if you desire.

First half is a simple and easy road but after the private property the trail becomes very tight. Possible to get down to the water in a midsize truck without scratches only if going very slow and extreme caution

Pretty tight trail definitely not designed for a full size vehicle. Really cool trail and the end is worth it if you’re not afraid of pinstripes.

Had a blast but the dirtbike is a pass for non experienced riders if you have good experience and know you won’t crash go for it but take caution because the rocks are really lose and your rear end will get away from you if you’re not careful.

Most of the trail is graded gravel until past the work route, then it is still easy until a small clearing. The trail continues into the trees and is quite narrow. Full-size 4x4 rigs will feel very tight as this is clearly an ATV trail. Like many of the area trails, you will earn some trail stripes from branches. The end is worth the narrow journey as you are greated with a beautiful view of the northern part of the lake. Not many people up here, so it was beautiful and quiet.
