Trail Overview

This is an easy road that does not require 4x4. The road is not maintained when it has snowed. You gain 945 feet of elevation, but it is very gradual. There are several places along the road with stunning views, but you would have to go in the winter to get the best views. There are several designated places to camp along the road with fire rings but not electric or sewer hookups. There isn't any cell service along the trail (Verizon). This trail connects to the Bent Creek Trail.

Hard pack dirt & gravel, slightly damp so no dust, but no standing water either. Appears to have been recently graded. This road will never be easier to ride.

Great forest ride with a moderate grade from blue ridge parkway down to north mills river. Lots of loose gravel but manageable. Lots of cyclists sharing the area.

Still has damage from the hurricane, lots of narrow points due to holes and runoff. Not as busy towards the top.

Some cars were on trail. Camping spots seemed to be all taken, almost nowhere to camp. Nothing fun, even some Kia Souls were driving there. No need in a 4x4 or anything lifted. You can tell it was maintained
