Trail Overview

This is a short section of roadway out of Asheville that connects to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The road winds up the Blue Ridge Mountains through scenic back-country areas with multiple trails and recreational areas nearby. This road is a great area to connect to other Pisgah National Forest Routes and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Started at the ledford branch trailhead. There is a downed tree before you get to the blue ridge tunnel. Had to go back out and re-enter off of the blue ridge to keep going south. Road condition is good even after all the rain.

The dirt road was open from bent creek to the parkway and in good condition. Fun riding up the mountain through scenic forest. There was a decent amount of cyclists sharing the road and a few runners.

Roads were in great condition after yesterday’s thunderstorms. Several groups of runners, a few bikers and some vehicles parked on the pull offs, but no other vehicle traffic. Rhododendrons still in bloom.

Lots of Bikes and People walking. Most congestion was at the bottom of the route, cleared up towards the top.

Lots of mountain bikers transiting between trails using the road. Was surprised that cars were going around blind corners as fast as they were. Watch for bikes and folks that like to speed around blind corners on winding mountain roads. This is passable by any vehicle with normal ground clearance.

Lots of people, other vehicles and bikes on the trail. Trail was clear and very clean. Could have been completed with. 2wd vehicle to be honest. But was still very fun!
