Trail Overview

Shingletree Branch (FS 713) is a 3.9-mile out-and-back route that follows a single-lane road with few places to pass over a lightly maintained packed dirt and gravel surface. Traveling through heavily forested terrain, the route is rated easy and follows a gentle, winding alignment into a quiet section of the National Forest. The road begins at a paved private driveway before continuing into the forest and eventually reaches an open area at the terminus, where the Bartram Hiking Trail intersects the route. Although lightly maintained, the road remains straightforward to drive and provides a peaceful backcountry experience. Access is restricted to highway-legal vehicles only, and the route is generally open from March 15 through December 31.
