Trail Overview
Beech Road is similar to several of the other trails in the surrounding coastal North Carolina network and features a mixture of maintained and overgrown two-track. The maintained portions are relatively easy to navigate, with good visibility of the trail surface and any potential obstacles ahead. As the trail transitions into more overgrown sections, vegetation begins to encroach on the track and can make it more difficult to identify changing surface conditions. Users should remain alert for mud holes and standing water that may be partially hidden by vegetation, particularly following periods of heavy rain. Coastal soil can become soft and muddy quickly when saturated, potentially increasing the difficulty of otherwise simple sections. Overall, Beech Road is an enjoyable addition to the nearby trails and can easily be incorporated into a longer afternoon of exploring the area.
