Trail Overview

This is a nice ride through the backwoods of the Lake Placid area. Most of the surrounding area on the western end is owned by a forest products company and they have blocked side trail access. The trail takes you around the southern flank of 3,550-foot Saddleback Mountain through the Adirondack Forest Preserve.

Difficulty

This is an established forest access road with a stable base. There are no deep waterholes or large rocks.

There was several downed trees that we used our recovery boards to drive over. Definitely recommend as long as you have good tires and they’re good on ICE!

Great trailing, easy ride and beautiful scenery. While driving through there was highway maintenance crew with a chainsaw cutting up down trees so I got there in perfect timing. Cruised on 4H and no problems at all.

Generally clear mostly packed gravel and stones but a few areas with drops and washouts. A few sections of moderate size loose stones. Picking lines are important in those sections. Driving a Canyon AT4 and the added ground clearance was needed in those rough sections. Non-lifted SUV’s wouldn’t make it through.

Fun little trail near lake placid. Did it in my stock TRD Pro. Nothing too crazy, a few high rocks and the road is broken & washed out in some parts which would make it challenging for a normal SUV to do. Definitely need a high clearance vehicle.
