Trail Overview

Pioneer Creek Trail leaves from Red River behind the ski resort and then follows the canyon up. There are some large loose rocks towards the end and four water crossings where the trail crosses the creek. Although the map shows the trail goes further, it has been closed where the track ends, and a large tree felled across the path.

Trail seemed to be in good condition with it covered in snow. Had a few low hanging limbs, but not to bad. The powdered snow had good traction on flats and inclines. There is a steeper incline towards the end that the sun had been shining on and was to slick to get over. All in all a good ride.

A bit rough towards the end but easily made the trail, went early so there were no side by sides on the trail. Had a small downed tree that seemed recent. Trail seemed well maintained. Plenty of low water crossing, not very technical

Easy trail some pretty rocky places toward the end. It actually goes on for a full 3.1 miles. The app doesn’t show the end of the trail.
