Trail Overview
Trail 505 is a lightly trafficked and primitive dirt bike trail through the Santa Fe National Forest. There are barely any tracks to follow, as it rides across a dry and sparse forested terrain of ponderosa pines. The trail traverses some low rolling hills, riding past some giant boulders and rock outcroppings. There are some deep ruts and erosion, which can be more difficult to ride through because the dirt is so soft, but it’s mostly flat and easy terrain. At times, the trail is wider with more tracks to follow, and at times it rides up into the boulders over some rock slabs that are more off-camber. Overall, it’s a scenic trail and more of an adventure to find the route, making good navigation skills and an offline map necessary. Both entrances to the trail are unmarked.
Difficulty
This is a moderate trail due to a few deep ruts, some rock slabs, and a primitive route that requires good navigation skills. Expect uncut logs, as this is not a highly trafficked route.
