the clapp rd section is pretty rough going . washed out ruts from last week's rain made the decent pretty technical . jeep is lifted 4.5 inches and I scraped the rear bumper more than a few times. sorry pics aren't great they were all stills from video. Most of the run is a 1/10 , clapp rd is easily a 6/10 though and if your coming from the rt126 side you better have diff lockers and probably a winch at the least...heading down the way I came is definitely the easiest way to tackle it..

Like others have said, the beginning and end of this trail is very easy no matter which way you go. However, the middle part (Clapp Rd) can be a challenge. If you’re on 33” or smaller tires then expect a couple taps on your skid plate as you make your way over rocks and a couple ledges.

mostly dirt road until you hit the clapp rd section. this part was pretty gnarly in some sections. Not sure the old 87' yj would have made it coming up the hill without a locker in the rear end however going down was doable although pretty technical still. this was the first real test of my jeep since I brought it back from the graveyard and I made it all the way through with no issues, couldn't be happier right now. views along the way where top notch , it's a beautiful time of year in this area at the moment

First half of this trail is along a dirt road then there’s a cutout in the forest where you get technical. Definitely wish I had a spotter for most of this technical part. Can easily get stuck on a lot of juts and Low and Slow is the best way to go. It was dry when I went and very grippy. As fall comes this trail will be tougher to drive due to small rocks that will get hidden from leaves. Highly recommend a spotter, Atleast a small lift to properly clear everything, and airing down to like 18psi. Overall a very fun loop but definitely closer to a 5 overall rating.

Took my father out for the day for some fun - read the trail reports and decided to try. Majority of Route is maintained Dirt road and only became technically involved once you turn onto Clapp road. Clapp road is a legitimate 4x4 unmaintained road. 3/10 rating is far too low for this section and would rate closer to 6/10 due to aggressive erosion of the road. We traveled from East to West (downhill on Clapp road) - there are significant areas (approximately 6) of road washout exposing granite ledges and significant drops with sizable obstructive rocks Driving '24 Toyota Landcruiser LC250 with engine, transmission, and rear diff skid plates with otherwise standard tires and no lift - I was at the limit of the cars configuration in terms of tires / lack of lift. Surprisingly it did quite well and I only struck my skid plate 2x w/o any damage but there was real potential for significant issue. Spotter highly recommended, as well as A/T tires / Lift Kit. East to West Clapp road is downhill

The majority of the route is maintained dirt road. However Clapp Rd. Is not. Our infinity is on 33's with a 1" suspension lift and this was much more difficult than implied. There are half a dozen sections of washed out granite ledge that pushed our rig to its likits.

The trail was I’d say more moderate than easy in the slightest. Having a lifted vehicle helps from the rocks. Just take the trail very very slow

Saw this trail was a few miles from the house and went out with the wife and 2 of 3 kids in tow. No spotter or recovery was prob a medium bad idea after all the rain we had the last weeks/days especially but made it through with a little rubbing and right pedal action. Would do it again with someone else or when it’s drier for sure. Definitely not “easy” for a weekend warrior’s first rodeo but made it through none the less haha

It was smooth the first half compact dirt roads some ruts was manageable but then once u take the second left down this rocky dirt road about a 1/4 mile down it gets bad , definitely dot. Recommend using a non lifted truck here it was a challenge for the new 2025 Subaru forester we made it tho we popped a plastic panel off the passenger door and then a steep drop off a big rock all dirt washed away around it we scrapped front bumper nothing bad and popped our plate off ! Travel at your own risk cuz there’s only one way in and one way out

Entered from the East side on Meaderboro Rd. The first 7-8 miles are 2 lane, maintained dirt roads with short stretches of pavement. Once you get to Clapp Rd (intersects with North Barnstead Rd) the technical rating becomes 3-4. I only went a short distance on Clapp Rd before turning around due to inexperience and not having a spotter. Heavy leaf coverage this time of year, several large rocks.

So glad I went with a friend today after he upgraded his suspension. We entered via the 126 end meaning we had to go up the rocky section almost immediately after a couple of mud pits. The climb required spotting as we had to pick the perfect line to navigate through. There's enough tall rocks that jut out to damage the suspension and undercarriage so we were really careful, using crawl control going up. I kept my air pressure to 35 psi as my gut told me I needed a balance of traction and ground clearance. I just barely made one rock obstacle, my friend told me. I'm running a stock TRDPro. Weather was dry and sunny. Rating should be higher. 4 or 5.

Easy dirt roads until you get to Clapp Road. Stock Tacoma TRD made it through fine with a spotter. Had to remove the stock plastic mud flaps to keep from dragging on a few drop offs. Recommend doing the trail starting at the east side near Rochester and do Clapp Road downhill.

I was glad I went in via Meaderboro Rd end, most of the trail is fairly tame but the mid section has a lot of rocks. 4Lo and slow. It was fun though it was a good ride to learn the capability of the Jeep. Definitely need a lift and big tires anything else you won't make it over the drop offs when going over the rocks
