Trail Overview

Seven Lakes Mountain Trail is on BLM land off Wildhorse Track. This trail is best run from the south to the north in the spring or fall. During winter, there may be snow, and during summer it may be very hot. From the south, the trail begins as a gentle climb from Wildhorse Track but quickly climbs from 5,000 to 6,000 feet in under 2 miles. Some parts of this section are very steep and will require four wheel drive. Once up on the summit, the 360-degree views are breathtaking. Great spot for lunch if you are running the full Wildhorse Track. From the Summit, head Northwest and descend four miles down 1,600 feet back to Wildhorse Track. This section is slow going with hidden rocks in the grass, narrow sections through scrub pines, and a few very deep ruts to work around. Spectacular views are had as you descend back down to the valley floor. The last three miles or so are on private land, so make sure to stay on the trail and be respectful.
