Trail Overview
Fire Bay 106 is a fun and narrow wash trail that leads from the highway to a scenic dispersed camping spot in Fire Bay. This route features a manageable mix of light rocky sections as you navigate through the narrow wash, with the trail generally well-graded for an enjoyable drive. The walls of the wash provide an interesting geological display, featuring an appealing combination of red clay, lava rock, and various sedimentary layers that tell the story of the region's natural history. If you're fortunate, you may even spot some wild burros roaming the area, adding a touch of wildlife excitement to your journey. As you continue along Fire Bay 106, be mindful that the trail narrows in certain sections, which may make it unsuitable for oversized vehicles. At the end of the trail, a gate marks the terminus, indicating that you'll need to continue on foot to reach the water. The distance to the water will vary depending on the lake's current water level. Important Note: No cell service is available along this trail, so it's crucial to download your offline maps before your trip. The trail consists of two short rocky sections and narrow areas that require careful navigation. Avoid entering when wet, especially during the rainy season, as conditions could become hazardous.
