Trail Overview
Como Sunrise Crossover Trail is an interesting shortcut between Sunrise Pass and Old Como Road. You can include it in a loop you might make with those two great trails. It offers challenges on the North end, and a quiet, serene valley in the middle. From the South, an easy trail drops into the valley. In the valley, you will find a stand of Pinion Pines that is a great place to take lunch or a break. A long wheelbase or wide vehicle may have difficulty at the North end, but it is doable.
Difficulty
About three-quarters of a mile South of Old Como Road, a washout has caused an off-camber portion, then a short rocky stretch. Two large (18-plus-inches) rocks will be encountered on a sharp turn. A 64-inch SxS can weave between the rocks, but a wider vehicle will probably have to put a wheel on one of the rocks while turning. Immediately South of those rocks is a short, steep climb out of the washout, featuring melon-sized rocks. After you have cleared that, you will soon come to a closed gate. In my experience, it has never been locked or posted. If coming from the North, reverse the sequence.
