Trail Overview

This is a scenic trail that takes you to several viewpoints high above Boulder City and the Las Vegas Valley. The trailhead is accessed just outside of downtown Boulder City, Nevada. The trail is well-maintained and easily accessible to any high-clearance vehicle. There are several mountain bike trails nearby, so always watch out for traffic crossing the trail. The trail quickly gains elevation to a small parking area that overlooks Boulder City below and the Las Vegas Valley off in the distance. Looking to the top of the mountain reveals a VORTAC antenna which is used for aircraft navigation. Continue on through the River Mountains and take in the expansive desert views.

this is not a 2/10 you should change the difficulty rating it’s misleading, the soft roads are a 2/10 and only because they’re super pitted but driveable forsure. the mountain top near the henderson entrance is deteriorated & washed out it’s very sketchy like a 6/10. if you don’t have a lift & 4x4 you’re gonna get stuck in that section. the rest of the trail is fun 3.8/10

Came in from the Henderson side The route per the GPS wanted to head in atop a rough mountain with ledges. We found a bypass by following the Powerline roads around. That took us back in. I went in a 2WD 4Runner with a lift and off-road tires Some parts are for sure a 3-5. Plenty of inclines and declines with sharp rocks and some hard ledges. Softpack areas. But we ended having to turn back at the big 3 - 4 foot step inside the canyons. I can imagine it’s doable coming down from the boulder side. But going up was a no go. A 4x4 with proper lift could manage with a spotter, but the areas had lots of soft sand. On the way back we found a cool hangout spot by a water way or dam. Overall a fun and at times challenging trail. Lots of side roads to explore. But the Henderson side is for sure harder and I would only recommend it with proper lift and tires.

Beautiful trail with some great scenery! We started from the Henderson side. Parts of this trail are more of a 3-4 rating.

Easy trail but very washboarded so it’s slow going. Might be more comfortable for a sxs or rigs with ifs instead of solid axles.

If you are going all the way from Henderson to Boulder City, you will hit about a 3ft high shelf you will have to climb.

Starting from the Henderson side is a bit challenging if you follow the route on here, but there’s a bypass about 5-600 feet if you keep going north that skips going up the mountain. If you have big tires and confident at steep angle go for the hill. My Santa Cruz is stock with stock tires I had to find an easier route. Once you pass the dam is not that bad until you get to the canyon (posted a picture of the map ) there’s a big rock about 5-6ft that’s I was definitely not gonna be able to pass and had to turn back from there. I will go back to try and find another way around it, the description on here says is an easy trail but it is NOT unless you have a very very capable rig.

This is a moderate level trail. There are some rocks that are a few feet tall you have to navigate. We came in from the Henderson side. Once you turn past the water treatment facility it starts to get more technical. There is also a large rock close to the Boulder City side. The trail took us about an hour and it was a lot of fun. Definitely not for beginners.

Took it from the henderson side. Henderson side very off camber loose rock. Made it just fine no lockers but would not attempt if you are not an experienced off roader. Once past that it was all smooth rollin high clearance ledge to climb before reaching boulder city.

We took it from the Boulder city side, there were a lot of people riding bikes in the very first part of the trail but once you dropped down into the wash, there was nobody else there. I agree that the Rocky up-and-down climb was more like a four or five as you have to navigate rocks off, camber while going up and down steep grades. I made it without a lockers, but clearance is definitely needed.

The first section from the Henderson side was probably a 2-3/10, but like others have said, it quickly climbs a rock-face (and down the other side) that is much steeper and more technical. I’d say 6/10 for ~ another half hour. 4LO and potentially lockers recommended. Once through the technical stuff, trail becomes bumpy with washboards, leading up to the ledge obstacle. If you got through the first section, I don’t see this being an issue. After that, some smooth road until you hit pavement. Fun trail.
