Trail Overview

Welcome to Boulder City, Nevada! Home of the Hoover Dam. This is a fun in-and-out trail with some newfound challenges after the rain in May of 2025. This is mostly an easy trail with some decent clearance required. The road is rocky in some areas, gravel in some, dirt in some areas, and rock gardens in others. There are ledges with 3+ foot drops and climbs if you choose to take the harder lines. Even the easy lines in some places will require some technical driving to keep your undercarriage from scraping. The end of the trail has a nice little area that sits on the Colorado River. You will use your 4WD even with the easy lines in some places of the trail. After rain, this trail changes a lot.

Difficulty

There are areas near the end of the trail which will require movement through 2 foot ledges. While water is present, the area can have water crossings of up to 18 inches deep. Two of my runs after rain in May of 2025 there were several water crossings of over 12 inches. Harder obstacles can be bypassed (3+ foot ledges). Under carriage protection was put to use in a 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon on stock 35's and stock lift (35 inch tire package).

History

In 2021, this trail was graded for maintenance. Before the grading, the trail was a 4 rating. After grading, the trail was a 3 and quite frankly boring. The trail is now back up beyond the difficulty it has been in the past 15 years of me running it.

@ of us. Stock Jeep Rubicon on 33s and Tacoma Trail Hunter on 33s. Most of the trail is passable and in fair to moderately rough, washboards. Last few miles Are rough with washout areas but passable. Brushed the skid plate a few times, just had to pick out way through. recommend this trail for a moderate challenge and great scenery. Overall had an awesome trip

I made it in a stock 2025 Tacoma OR just scraped near the end but I was mostly my fault other than that with a high clearance vehicle and 4x4 anyone should be fine

Proper clearance is definitely required. We had (2) power wagons and a Chevy 1500 with stock suspension. The Chevy damaged the transmission pan and was leaking transmission fluid on the way back. Overall trail is pretty good, but there are definitely a lot of loose and sharp rocks on this trail. Low air pressure in tires is highly recommended. We were at 20 psi and very thankful. There were a couple of technical climbs and decents with loose rock and washed out areas.

Trail is still very doable, just uncomfortable to do to at times due to washouts in the last few years - make sure to have the right PSI in your tires as there are many sharp rocks, come prepared for the possibility of tire damage, we had 3 tires go down in our group of 5 vehicles. Many rocks are now sticking up with very little chance of not smacking a skid or diff at one point or another. Expect some light traffic, but mostly a good time. This trail is remote and you won’t have service from about 1/4 of the way in until you come back out. Keep in mind you might see a side by side or dirt bike… but posted signs to say all vehicles must be street legal and all drivers licensed.
