Middle Fork Big Creek - FS 1181

Middle Fork Big Creek - FS 1181 extends south from Big Creek - FS 386 and can create a loop utilizing multiple road segments. It provides a mostly easy, windy trail through steep valleys and hillsides, offering views to the west and north. You will see a variety of tree species and wildflowers with good views of the stream below. This trail has a minimum of two great camping/lunch spots with stream access. It does contain a portion of a seasonally closed road at mile 5.8 (10/15-0/15). Recent heavy winter storms from the winter of 2025/2026 have caused the trail to have plenty of blowdown, so a chainsaw should always be on board. A few seeps and muddy spots in the rainy season, along with a handful of dips, make it not suitable for AWD cars.
