Trail Overview
Chadwick Trail 140 starts at the KC Pavilion Trailhead. Riding clockwise, it starts as a narrow trail, more like a single track, going through a ravine covered in a layer of small, loose shale-like rocks all packed down into the ravine. It’s like riding in a V-bottom trough between mossy and rooty hillsides. Although open to ATVs, this section will likely be very narrow for 50” vehicles, and mostly looks ridden by dirt bikes. There are some bigger chunky rocks in the bottom of the ravine and slabs of rock that you ride over. After half a mile, it climbs out of the ravine up the hillside on a slick surface with big roots and decaying leaves. It widens up on this hillside, with several tall rock ledges spanning across the trail during a steep climb. The rock can be slick, and it continues to ride over several more slabs of rock and narrow, troughed sections on the hillside, winding past lots of skinny tupelo trees on a ridgeline. The loop ends on Lookout Road after a mile. There are frequent trail signs that help you follow the route.
