Trail Overview

Samuelson Trail starts off a main road as a gravel route before gradually becoming narrower and transitioning into more of a dirt trail. Along the way, you'll find some washouts from rain and potentially deeper puddles, so use caution and don't assume every water-filled section is shallow. There are also a couple of areas that appear suitable for dispersed camping. Since this trail is in a national forest area, be sure to check the current forest regulations and camping restrictions before setting up camp. As you continue toward the end, the trail opens into a large clearing that makes a great spot to stop, have lunch, and take in the surrounding scenery. Overall, Samuelson is a fairly easy trail with changing terrain, a few weather-related challenges, and some nice opportunities to get off the main road and enjoy the forest.
