Trail Overview
Marion Creek (FS 492) offers a step up in adventure for those looking to move beyond the easier trails in the area. The trail includes plenty of mud holes, trees close to the route, and several washouts where sections of the road have been eroded away. These areas can hold additional mud and require careful line selection.
High clearance is recommended, as the trail has uneven and off-camber sections along with larger rocks and vegetation close to the vehicle. As you get farther toward the end, the vegetation becomes tighter, and grass begins to grow through the trail. There is also a dispersed camping area along the route, but be sure to follow all applicable regulations if you plan to camp.
This is a single-lane trail with only a few places to pass or safely meet another vehicle, so take it slow and stay alert. With mud, washouts, rocks, off-camber terrain, and tight vegetation, Marion Creek provides plenty of challenges and is a great choice for drivers looking for a more exciting and rustic 4x4 experience.
Difficulty
Do to the rocks, mud holes and road washouts, this road can be more challenging depending on the weather and the time of year.
