Trail Overview

Trail 1 begins smooth and loamy as it winds through the pine trees before the rocks and roots increase in number. There are no especially technical obstacles, but the rock/roots serve as a good primer for what to expect in the rest of the system. All of the trails at Alger Grade are tight and narrow, and Trail 1 is no different.

Difficulty

Trail 1 is one of the easier trails in the system. There are rocks and roots that need to be crossed, but none of them are especially challenging. They can get slick in the rain, but they are less of a factor on this trail compared to the others.
