Trail Overview
North Branch North Fox is a moderately maintained forest road that runs from its intersection with Route FIR Forest Road 13042 to its intersection with North Fox Road. This two-track trail navigates across a moderately sandy surface through the heart of the Escanaba Forest Management Unit. Unlike many other forest roads in this area, this trail lacks the small rocks that can lead to a bumpy ride in some vehicles. The sand is firm yet soft, allowing for enjoyable navigation by many types of vehicles. The trail is surrounded by well-established pines and other hardwoods. This trail offers little in the way of views off the trail, but the trail has many gentle rolling corners, as well as a couple of sharp corners as it navigates through the gentle rolling wilderness. Cell service in this area increases in reliability as the trail navigates further south. If unfamiliar with this area, traveling with downloaded maps is advised since many of the trails have little to no service.
Difficulty
This trail can be managed by all who ride it. The terrain is moderate, with rolling hills and sweeping corners. The trail surface is a mix of dirt and gravel, which provides good traction. The trail is under 2 vehicles wide for most of its length and is closer to a two-track in many areas; this will require vehicles to slow down in order to pass safely.
