Trail Overview

Lemon Creek Trail is a seasonal out-and-back trail within the Traverse City Forest Management Unit. Located off 13 Mile Road, this trail is easily accessible. Starting, you'll begin on a grassy/sandy two-track in a clearing of the forest. As you navigate down the trail, you'll enter a thick section of trees that makes you feel like you just traveled to a completely different track. Here the trail narrows with a fair amount of overgrowth. Something to keep in mind. As you weave along the trail, you may come across some washouts and/or mud holes. These typically aren't bad, but something to be noted. As with most Michigan trails, conditions depend on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come prepared. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. Towards the end, this route runs near Lemon Creek. It can be difficult to see through the thick forest, but it can be seen from the trail. The end of the trail finishes at a loop in a grassy clear-cut of the forest. This is not a difficult trail, but it contains a lot of beauty and gives access to other great recreation.
